It has been a while since my last self portrait and I have been wanting to use this piece of material for a while as I love the colour. I also wanted to create an image that represents my style of work. I feel like I've hit a mile stone as a photographer and have realised where my true passion lies!
I want to focus on portraits where I can make people feel good about themselves. I love working with people and learning everybody's best attributes & you all know I love using my self portraits as a time to really get creative.
I feel I have finally also come into my own with my editing technique. After drifting off on other influences, I realised my best work is when I stick to my own style. After months of perfecting my editing technique, I have finally created an action in photoshop called 'Natalie Ann Photography' which I can now apply to all my images.
A fellow blogger did a write up of my photography and I just couldn't have said it better myself. Monique says: "Her portrait style is not typical - they teeter on the fashion side of portrait photography, and they definitely wouldn't be something I would consider to date (like so many of my portraits I have had done)"
This was such a compliment to read as I have always strived to stay away from the standard portraits that a few years down the track you are too embarrassed to show to anyone.
So my friends, these new self portraits are all me and my 2 styles; Interesting, in the moment and an image that is also art.
I couldn't help but put this behind the scenes photo up. I do my self portraits on a tripod and use self timer. Just as I was taking the picture, two rascals jump behind me and get in the photo :)
