Same Client, Same Photographer - One Year Later.

One year ago I photographed the lovely Danielle, and last week she re-booked with me for one of my Valentines Special Packages. Re-photographing an old client was such a wonderful experience. For one thing, it was interesting to see how my style has changed and my growth as a photographer. Another, to see how easily Danielle fell into posing for the camera. It was as though she had remembered my directions from her past shoot and she applied them to this one.

Her Shoot One Year Ago:

Her Shoot Now:

I now like to shoot cleaner images with a more natural style of editing. These photographs are so feminine, every woman should have photographs of themselves like these. This is why I love doing portraits it's something that one can have and hold onto forever.

An overdue creative outlet.

I recently purchased my new favourite equipment; Profoto lights with a 5ft Octa soft box!

I'm using it for a shoot on Thursday but I just wanted to practice using the new gear first. So while I was lying awake in bed with ideas at 6am this morning, I decided I'm well over due for a creative self portrait.

In keeping with the Portrait Couture style photography, I used natural back lighting and then the Octa as a fill light, which felt, and looked just like window light.

I took the Portrait Couture style a bit further and gave it an Edwardian feel by adding texture and putting on whatever I could find from the photo shoot wardrobe. This consisted of; a dress, tutu, a skirt over the tutu, a mask and layering many necklaces. In real life this outfit looked extremely ridiculous on me.

I have no idea how I managed to do my hair. I pretty much rolled out of bed, left it messy and pinned it like a bow at the front of my head. Anyway the results are as you see :) xx

And... since all my clients are doing it for me, I must do one too. A before and after.
The Octa :)

Natalie Ann Photography - Portrait Couture

2012 has arrived and I have implemented many new changes to my business. All very exciting!!

From now on the majority of my work will be Portrait Couture and Beach Portraits. I have decided to focus and specialise in this area as taking portraits of people is my most favourite type of photography.

Many people still request my location shoots, so as well as the studio style I will be offering location shoots at the beach. There are a few reasons I have decided to use the beach as my backdrop. One, my new studio will be built withinn a 2 minute walk from the beach. Two, it is an uncluttered environment which allows the subject to be the main focus of the image, and three I love the beach. Who doesn't! I love the colours it provides and how depending on the time of day you shoot, the different light can completely change the whole mood and feel of the image.

I want my photographs to be clean and modern, using natural style light. Both the beach location shoots and portrait couture shoots will have that 'Natalie Ann Photography' feel and look to them. What to wear during the photo shoot will be discussed prior, and I now have a lovely studio wardrobe of clothes, material and accessories which can be added to enhance or create an outfit.

I am now encouraging all my clients to have hair and make-up professionally done and enjoy a day of being pampered and a day that's all about you! I have my main girl Daniella Piscopo Make-up Artistry, Simone Lawler and then I myself have learnt how to do the portrait couture style make-up.

Another change is the all out there to see 'Before and After' shots. It is important for me to do this. The reason being for my clients who don't have the confidence to believe they have it in them, to show them their true potential and also for everyone else to see that you too can have photographs to treasure forever. I had so many comments of people saying I only photograph models, where in fact the majority of the women I have on face book and my website are not models. They just look great after a photo shoot with me. We have fun, my clients relax and grow more and more confident throughout the photo shoot and before you know it they're taking stunning pictures.

So Here's to a fabulous New Year! Can't wait to photograph you. xxx

Portrait Couture with Sheridan

Well what can I say about this young lady. Sheridan absolutely blew me away!!
She kept proclaiming to be nervous, but as soon as the camera was on her, she was a star. I hardly had to do anything. She new how to move her body and stare straight down the lens in a very sexy way, but still managing to keep an innocence about her.

Once Sheridan was booked in for her shoot, it was very clear the style I wanted for her.
Her look was classically going to fit in with the Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume add they have running on TV at the moment. So we put an outfit together from the studio wardrobe and I photographed her against a natural back light.

We also wanted to do something a little bit sexy, so I set her up in a beautiful authentic vintage chase, and thanks to Sheridan's sewing capabilities, we now have these gorgeous tutu skirts for any other clients to use if they like during their own shoot.
